La Laguna market
1. A market in the square ... and a covering on top. That is all. The covering has the thickness to contain all the required services.
2. Four courtyards of different heights and sizes provide with light and ventilation the market space. All the openings look towards the inner courtyards allowing the external envelope to remain neat and opaque. The building layout responds to the urban fabric, structuring the building around courtyards.
3. The building mimics neighbouring constructions by using white stucco and thus avoids adding further aesthetic criteria to the context.
4. The use of timber in the interior aims to create a user friendly environment. A succession of light timber boxes for each shop create a neat volume when closed and incorporate de signalling when unfolding them to the open position.
