Housing Park de La Feixina. Palma de Mallorca
The building wants to blend in with its surroundings, to go unnoticed, to build a city rather than architecture. With a strategy of camouflage, it tries to detect the materials, the colours, the proportion of the holes, the closures of the surrounding buildings in order to build an architecture that wants to disappear without renouncing its contemporaneity. Understanding that in certain circumstances it is necessary for architecture to be generous and put itself at the service of the city and the collective interest, building public space.
The dwellings -one per floor-, open towards the southern corner of the building, drawing upon the good orientation and the views over the Parc de la Feixina, the port and the city?s historical wall. The common spaces such as the staircase the lobby, etc., feature warm materials that can also be found in Mallorca?s vernacular architecture. These common spaces in the ground floor were designed to create a dialogue between the building and the city, ultimately enhancing the communication between the public space, the common areas and the interior of the dwellings.
