As consequence of Dubai?s striking economical growth, more new residential areas are everyday more needed to accommodate foreigner expatriates located around the Middle East. Spreading all along the seashore, numerous gate communities are being build attached to the City down-town. The project is located as integrated part for the new Jumeirah urban development.
The proposal solves the challenge that is to build a garden-city from the repetition of a singular plot and according to a specific urban model imposed by the client. Therefore, the project understands that the urban character will not be achieved by a noisy formalization for each piece but through a precise repetition strategy where the units relate to each other setting back conforming patios to locate gardens, parking areas or just widening the street.
There are four typologies all based on the same formal concept: an elegant pure white volume minimizing the visual impact and generating a homogeneous and harmonious image with enough degree of randomness to be able to provide to the neighborhood with the enough dynamism and rhythm needed on any city. All these by paying special attention in avoiding the indiscreet presence of the neighbors without enclosing the properties with a simple opaque wall.
The house it?s both seen as a white piece surrounded by a lattice (recalling both the traditional Mediterranean architecture and the Arabic culture) and a juxtaposition of program bands around a patio. The project understands that the best way to create its own atmosphere in such artificial context is by closing itself around a central core filled with some vegetation and with a cooling water pond. Furthermore, it is then the best suited way for a sustainable and traditional correct ventilation / acclimatization of the home, beyond the undeniable and unique architectural qualities of a patio-house.
